Much like display impressions email campaigns traditionally have a low click through rate and are under attributed because of this. If someone opens the email but does not click through that acivity would not be visible using just standard tracking. LeadsRx believes that if that person converts at any point in the future, the email campaign should receive attribution credit. This is achieved using the specialized email view touchpoint.
Email View Touchpoint
To track impressions in an email, you will want to create an email view touchpoint. The email view touchpoint will generate a 1x1 pixel, which you would need to include as part of your email setup. This will track only impressions, not click-throughs. If set up properly, anyone using the same email address to make a purchase conversion will show the email view as part of their path. This works even if the device is different and we would otherwise not know it was the same person.
Here are the steps to create an email view touchpoint:
- Hover over the name of your account at the top of any page and select SETTINGS.
- On the touchpoints box, select MANAGE.
- Click TRACK A NEW TOUCHPOINT in the top right of the screen and select the email view option.
- Give the touchpoint a name preferably indicating it is email views or impressions, an optional description, and click SAVE.
- Find the touchpoint in the list of touchpoints and select MANAGE > EDIT.
- Copy and paste the impression pixel into the body of the email. It will be invisible but will track email views.
- Be sure to read the information on changing the variables for UNIQUE_ID as well as email address for the recipient. Notice the standards for the mail platform you may use.
- You will still need to tag the ads with standard tracking parameters to track clicks.
