OTT (Over-the-top) advertising is becoming increasingly important to marketers. You can track OTT ads in LeadsRx by creating an OTT touchpoint with a unique 1x1 tracking pixel that can be added to the spot during trafficking.

Creating an OTT Touchpoint

  1. Using the drop-down menu under the gear icon at the top of any page, select SETTINGS.
  2. Find the block for touchpoints, then click MANAGE.
  3. Click TRACK A NEW TOUCHPOINT.
  4. The touchpoint type will be OTT.
  5. Give your touchpoint a name, optional description, and up to five (5) custom dimensions.
    • Tip: Dimensions are variables you want to use to slice and dice your data based on the nature of your ads, e.g. Show (PBS Frontline, Big Bang Theory...), Length (30 seconds, 60 seconds...), Ad Position (pre-roll, mid-roll...)
    • Custom Touchpoint Weighting is entirely optional and not widely used.
  6. SAVE when you are done.

Customizing an OTT Touchpoint

Once created, you can edit your touchpoint to fill in the dimension details and create any ad variations you may want.

  1. Find your OTT touchpoint from your list of touchpoints and click MANAGE.
    • Use the filter box on the left to make this faster.
  2. Select EDIT from the drop down.
  3. Go to OTT VARIATIONS near the bottom of the page. This is where you can add the custom dimension information and create additional variations for different spots.
  4. Click MANAGE and then select EDIT.
  5. Add information about the custom dimensions you have chosen and SAVE.
  6. You can ADD NEW VARIATION for as many Spot variations you are running.

OTT 1x1 Tracking Pixels

Once all your Spot ID numbers are set, you are ready to pull the 1x1 tracking pixels that will be used with your ads.

  1. For each Spot ID number you have created, click MANAGE.
  2. Select TRACKING OPTIONS.
  3. COPY SCRIPT to obtain the 1x1 pixel that will be used when that ad variation is trafficked.
    • Note, the MACROs used by particular OTT platforms may vary. Make sure you are replacing the ORANGE portions of the pixel code with the correct MACROs for the platform you are using.
  4. Send the ad spot creative with its corresponding 1x1 pixel to be trafficked together by the OTT platform(s) you use.
