LeadsRx makes your initial account creation easy. Once our Universal Tracking Pixel is placed on all the pages of your site, the product immediately begins monitoring incoming traffic. Each time a new traffic source is found, a touchpoint is created automatically. In many cases, it may never be necessary to create touchpoints manually.
One of the ways LeadsRx automatically creates new touchpoints is by looking for what is called an "auto touchpoint parameter". This parameter can be included on destination URLs of advertising to your website, and each time a new value for the parameter is found, LeadsRx will add a touchpoint automatically. The default parameter LeadsRx uses is "utm_source" as the value of the auto touchpoint parameter. If you feel like a different parameter might be more useful, please speak to our support team to discuss options.
Another way LeadsRx automatically creates new touchpoints is with well-known parameters like "gclid". This is used by Google Ads and their "auto tagging" capability. Read more about this feature here. If LeadsRx finds this parameter and a utm_source is not present, a touchpoint will automatically be created called "Google AdWords Auto-tagging (gclid)".
Referring sources are another way LeadsRx automatically creates touchpoints. Whenever traffic to your website is referred from another site (e.g., someone clicks on a link on site "XYZ" to arrive on your site), this creates a "referral URL". Well-known referrers like search engines will be added under their appropriate names, and others will appears as "Referrals from XYZ.com".
The ability to automatically create touchpoints is enabled by default in your LeadsRx account. We do not recommend turning this feature off, but it can disabled by the LeadsRx support team in the very rare circumstance that that might be needed.
You can also manually create a touchpoint to be tracked simply by providing a few details about how the touchpoint should be triggered or recognized. Follow the directions below to get started.
Create a Touchpoint
- Using the drop-down menu under your account name at the top right of any page, select SETTINGS.
- In the touchpoints block, select MANAGE.
- Click the "Track a New Touchpoint" button.
- A popup will appear showing the various types of touchpoints that are available. Most touchpoints in LeadsRx fall into the "Other Tracking Parameter" category. Select the type of touchpoint that you want to create.
- Name your Touchpoint and give it an optional description.
- If more information is needed for that type of touchpoint, follow the instructions to finish setup.
- For Display ads that will appear on a network that allows third-party impression pixels, you can toggle on the Impression Pixel box to generate an impression pixel to traffic with your ad.
- Please ignore the "Custom Touchpoint Weighting" section. This is used very rarely.
- Click SAVE at the bottom right when you are done.
